Areas of Practice

Estate Planning

It’s never too early or too late to plan for your family's future. A proper estate plan will allow your estate to be distributed to your elected beneficiaries with the least possible hassle, time, and costs. A typical estate plan includes a Will, Living Will, Healthcare Power of Attorney, and Property Power of Attorney. We will design, prepare, and implement an estate plan that meets your individual objectives.

Real Estate

We provide expert legal service in the area of real estate transactions in both Iowa and Illinois. Whether it be residential or commercial, we counsel clients in purchases and sales, finance, and refinance of property. Whether you are buying your first home, condo, investment property, or commercial building, we are able to handle all of your real estate matters and concerns.

Trusts & special needs trusts

Trusts function similar to wills, as you leave your property and assets to your named beneficiaries. Creating a trust can help minimize taxes, protect assets, and spare your loved ones from having to go through the slow and public probate court process to divide up your assets after you pass. Creating a trust will speed up the trust administration process, as assets will be disbursed much more quickly than with a will.

We have extensive experience working with businesses in all stages of development, from start-ups to complex corporate structures. We have experience working with and establishing limited liability companies, general and limited partnerships, s-corps, c-corps, professional corporations, and non-profits. We counsel businesses in formation, selling and purchasing businesses, and corporate structures.

Probate & Trust Estate Administration

Probate is the legal process that occurs after one passes in which their estate assets are distributed to beneficiaries. We will work with the probate court and executor of the estate to identify and inventory assets, pay debts and taxes, and distribute assets to the beneficiaries. For trust administration, we will help guide the trustee throughout the process in order to disburse assets according to the trust agreement.

No matter what your arrangement or the particulars of your specific transaction, we can customize contracts and agreements to meet your specific concerns, needs, and interests. Whether it’s an employment agreement, non-compete agreement, or an asset purchase/sale agreement, we will provide you with sound legal advice and guidance to allow you to achieve your goals and objectives.

By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.
