Family-Owned Law Firm

Shie Law Office, P.C. was founded by Attorney Thomas Shie, a lifelong member of the Quad Cities community. After earning his business degree in accounting from the University of Iowa and graduating in the top 10% of his class at Chicago-Kent College of Law, Tom returned to the area to build a practice focused on estate planning, probate, real estate, and business matters. Over the past 30+ years, Tom has built a reputation for providing practical, straightforward legal guidance to individuals, families, and business owners throughout eastern Iowa and western Illinois.

 

Today, the firm is entering its next chapter. Tom practices alongside his children, Attorneys Emma Shie and Andrew Shie—both also graduates of Chicago-Kent College of Law—continuing the firm’s tradition of strong legal training and client-focused service.

 

Together, the firm combines decades of experience with a modern approach to estate planning and transactional law. We regularly assist clients with:

Ralph H. Heninger


Heninger and Heninger is a law firm spanning four generations of lawyers beginning with Charles C. Heninger who commenced the practice of law in 1900. In 1932, his son, Ralph U. Heninger, joined the practice in Sigourney, Iowa. In 1966, Ralph U. Heninger and Ralph H. Heninger re-established the firm in Davenport, Iowa. Ralph H. Heninger retired in August 2025. Ralph W. Heninger continues the family's tradition in the general practice of law in Iowa and Illinois.

Educated as a Paralegal with an Associate Degree in Applied Science, Melody provides services primarily in the areas of office administration, human resources, and commercial and farm real estate transactions, including title insurance underwriting. Melody has served on the Paralegal Advisory Board of a local university. Melody has been with Shie Law since 2003 and spends her free time visiting family in the Northeast and California!

Shelley

SENIOR PARALEGAL

SENIOR PARALEGAL

Educated as a Paralegal at Marycrest College, Shelley provides services primarily in the areas of residential real estate transactions and abstract typing. Shelley has worked in the legal field for 40+ years, assisting attorneys from Stanley, Lande, and Hunter to Shawver & Shawver Law. Shelley has been with Shie Law since 2023 and spends her free time trying new things, reading mystery novels, and participating in events with the Quad Cities Women's Outdoor Club!

Maegan

PARALEGAL

Maegan brings us years of experience in banking.  She was a Senior Personal Banker at Dubuque Bank and Trust, Commercial Banking Associate I at Cedar Rapids Bank and Trust and a Branch Supervisor at IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union. 


Grant

PARALEGAL

Educated from St. Ambrose University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Grant has been with Shie Law since 2025. He provides services primarily in the areas of probate, trust administration, guardianships, conservatorships, and estate planning. Grant spends his free time in the company of his family, watching his favorite Football Team (Cincinnati Bengals), and learning new instruments!

Alison

PARALEGAL

Alison received her Associate Paralegal Studies degree from Kirkwood Community College in 2024 and her Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Eastern Iowa Community College in 2021. 


Known for never stepping away from a challenge in the workforce, she is eager to put her new knowledge and skill to work.

Dim

PARALEGAL

Dim received her Bachelor of Arts at Augustana College and her Master of Science in Accounting from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.  She is fluent in Burmese, and Chin Zo.   

Taylor

PARALEGAL

Taylor received her Bachelor os Science from Iowa State University in 2013 and her Master of Arts from National Taiwan Normal University.  She recently moved back to the Quad Cities after living and working overseas.


She is currently the President jof the NTNU Mandarin Toast Master Club.

Lacey

PARALEGAL

Received Associate in Appplied Science from Black Hawk Collge and recently her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Western Illinois University.
