Attorney Thomas Shie grew up in Davenport, Iowa, and graduated from Davenport West High School. Tom played on the varsity tennis team and worked part-time in the Sports Department at the Quad-City Times Newspaper during high school. At the University of Iowa, Tom was a member of Acacia Fraternity, serving as Treasurer for two years, worked part-time at the Dental Science Building during school, and graduated from the University of Iowa Business School with a Bachelor in Business Administration in Accounting. Tom then attended law school at IIT - Chicago Kent College of Law in the Chicago Loop was a member of law review, worked part-time as a law clerk for two Chicago law firms during law school, and was admitted to the prestigious Order of Coif for graduating in the top 10% of his graduating class. Tom became an attorney at age 25, licensed in both Iowa and Illinois.
After working for 16 months as an associate attorney for a law firm in Rock Island, Illinois, Tom left the firm to begin his own law firm at the Priester Building in Davenport. At the beginning of his solo practice, Tom employed no staff and handled all scheduling, clerical, and attorney duties. After practicing completely independent for about two years, Tom joined an office-sharing arrangement with Attorneys Ted Priester, Realff Ottesen (now retired), and Mike Walton (whom currently is the Scott County Attorney). Tom still practices with Attorney Ted Priester as Shie Law Office, P.C., and Priester & Shie (an association of sole practitioners).
Tom has nearly 30 years of experience and expertise in the legal areas of estates and transactional law, including estate planning, decedents' estates such as Probate and Trust administration, residential and commercial real estate transactions, business law including formation and business transactions, and contracts drafting and contract law.

Currently attending IIT-Chicago Kent College of Law, Andrew will be joining his family practice as an Associate Attorney upon his graduation and passage of the Bar Exam. Andrew is excited to return to the office this Fall in his new role. He has been assisting with Shie Law since his youth and spends his free time fishing, playing tennis, and spending time with his family!

Educated as a Paralegal with an Associate Degree in Applied Science, Melody provides services primarily in the areas of office administration, human resources, and commercial and farm real estate transactions, including title insurance underwriting. Melody has served on the Paralegal Advisory Board of a local university. Melody has been with Shie Law since 2003 and spends her free time visiting family in the Northeast and California!

Educated from Augustana College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English, Ayradi has been with Shie Law since 2023. She provides services in the areas of probate, trust administration, guardianships, conservatorships, estate planning, corporate, and office administration, including client and staff relations. Ayradi will begin law school at Iowa University this Fall and is looking forward to this next chapter in her life!

Educated as a Paralegal at Marycrest College, Shelley provides services primarily in the areas of residential real estate transactions and abstract typing. Shelley has worked in the legal field for 40+ years, assisting attorneys from Stanley, Lande, and Hunter to Shawver & Shawver Law. Shelley has been with Shie Law since 2023 and spends her free time trying new things, reading mystery novels, and participating in events with the Quad Cities Women's Outdoor Club!

Assisting attorneys in the Quad Cities for 4+ years, Ruby provides services primarily in the areas of residential, commercial, and farm real estate transactions and refinancing, including Illinois title insurance issuance. Serving as the main assistant to Attorney Theodore Priester, Ruby has been with Shie Law since 2024. She spends her free time raising her daughter, attending community activities, and participating in LeadHer events!

Educated from Augustana College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, English, and Sociology-Anthropology, Olivia has been with Shie Law since 2024. She provides services primarily in the areas of probate, trust administration, guardianships, conservatorships, and estate planning, including probate estate and trust real estate transactions. Olivia plans to begin law school this Fall and spends her free time caring for her dog, reading romance novels, and supporting the local arts programs!

Educated from Minnesota State University - Mankato with a Bachelor of Science in Communications Studies, Katherine has been with Shie Law since 2024. She provides services primarily in the areas of residential real estate transactions, abstract typing, and office administration, including client and staff relations. Katherine spends her free time walking in nature, attending community events, and meeting her Goodreads reading goals!
Samantha

Educated from St. Ambrose University with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Bachelor of Science in Biology, Samantha has been with Shie Law since 2025. She provides services primarily in the areas of probate, trust administration, guardianships, conservatorships, and estate planning. Samantha spends her free time with her family making crafts at home and trying new restaurants in the area!
